We are running small group music therapy sessions for children aged 5–8 with Special Educational Needs (SEN) at Chorus Music Therapy CIC in Cambridge.

The groups are for children who may experience challenges with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, confidence, attention, or sensory processing. This includes children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, speech and language difficulties, or those awaiting assessment.

Sessions are led by a qualified HCPC-registered Music Therapist, who uses singing, musical games, percussion instruments, piano, movement and improvisation to help children communicate, build relationships and express themselves in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Children are encouraged to explore music at their own pace while developing confidence, creativity and positive interactions with others. Activities are adapted to meet each child's individual strengths and needs.

Aims of the Programme

The sessions aim to help children:

• develop communication and social interaction skills

• improve emotional expression and self-regulation

• increase confidence and self-esteem

• develop attention, listening and turn-taking skills

• experience success and enjoyment through shared music-making

The programme also aims to support parents by providing an accessible, welcoming community where children can participate in a therapeutic group close to home.
