Fan began her formal training in piano and vocal performance at the age of 10 and has been passionate about music ever since. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China and a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Temple University in the USA. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Music Therapy at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK.
Her background in both music performance and music therapy has strongly shaped her teaching approach. She believes that music education is about much more than developing technical skills. It is also an opportunity for children to build confidence, creativity, self-expression, and a lifelong love of music.
She uses person-centred and music-centred approaches in her lessons, recognising that every child learns differently. She tailors her teaching to each student’s age, personality, interests, and individual goals, creating a supportive and enjoyable environment where students feel comfortable exploring and expressing themselves through music.
She believes that interest is the best teacher. While she is happy to support students preparing for music examinations, she does not believe that exams should be the only goal. Her aim is to nurture curiosity, confidence, and genuine enjoyment of music. When children enjoy what they are learning, progress naturally follows.
Whether a child is a complete beginner, preparing for an examination, or looking to develop their piano or singing skills, she provides patient and personalised guidance to help them build strong musical foundations while enjoying every step of their musical journey.
